| The steps of the Jefferson Memorial |
We are back from DC safe and sound. We had a wonderful time
sightseeing and singing. We have a lot of stories to tell though - as our trip was certainly eventful.
Our bus broke down on the way, but we did make it there, we were just late. While we had other bus troubles too, nothing
seemed as bad as the wretched heat! It was blistering HOT and HUMID, and there was a LOT of walking.
So physically it was draining.
But the excitement of being there, and performing and seeing some of the most
honored places in our country made everything else seem bearable. Congrats to all our ladies for hanging in
there and being such good sports!
We had the honor of singing for some of our country's heros at
Vinson Hall Retirement Center as well as on the marble steps leading up to the Jefferson Memorial. While it was fun
and unique, it was also very hard to sing in the sun. But we had a good turn out considering - and they hung with
us and enjoyed our music. We were even blessed to have a group from Michigan happen by as well. You should ask
our ladies about getting to perform at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts!
Our tour guide took us through
the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, Arlington National Cemetery, and Ford Theater among other places. We got to
see the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, along with most of the war memorials.
I believe the highlight of our trip
was having the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. That was awesome. written by the web mistress - LeAnn
